Ranking each head coach of the Bengals since the year 2000.

Since 2000, there have been four head coaches to lead the Cincinnati Bengals. Some teams replace their coaches on a regular basis as if they were out of style. The Brown family took a while to find their coach, but once they do, they are devoted to the extreme.

Sam Wyche, who led the Bengals for eight seasons prior to Marvin Lewis, had the longest tenure as a coach. Not many other coaches made it through five seasons. Success in the role of head coach requires finding stability. Starting at number four, let’s rank every Bengals head coach since the year 2000.

Warning: Since that final season was the only one that satisfied the requirements for these rankings, we will only be looking at Bruce Coslet’s work from before 2000.

From 1969 to 1976, Bruce Coslet was a tight end for the Bengals. After that, he started coaching tight ends, first with the 49ers in 1980 and then going back to Cincinnati in 1981. From 1981 to 1984, he coached wide receivers; from 1985 to 1989, he served as offensive coordinator.

After that, Coslet was hired as head coach of the New York Jets from 1990 to 1993. He later returned to Queen City, where he was hired as head coach again in 1996. During his time as head coach of Cincy, Coslet’s best record was 8-8 in his debut campaign.
