An Answer to the NY Post’s Phony Hit Piece on Antonio Pierce, the Raiders Coach.

Nearly ten years ago, Antonio Pierce began his coaching career as a high school football coach before moving up to Arizona State for college football. After a few years, that came to an end when Pierce and other coaches violated the COVID recruiting restrictions set forth by the NCAA.

I would have fought this incident as a minor setback overshadowed by his coaching career full of positives, but if Mushnick had done his homework, this incident might have been a more pertinent approach to his attack on Pierce.

Ultimately, Mushnick offered no pertinent proof as to why Pierce’s promotion is a “disgrace.” Pierce’s promotion actually benefits the NFL. As a former captain of the team who prioritizes the players, has unfake passion, and understands how to balance serious intensity and lighthearted fun, he is a model of successful coaching in a player-run league.

This is the appearance of an NFL coach. Players aim to perform well for this person.

The outdated coaching approach that Mushnick presumably favors is ineffective in the modern NFL. Maybe that’s the thing that disturbs him the most about Pierce’s newfound popularity.

The New York Post ought to have highlighted Pierce’s past failures in order to highlight his progress since then, if that was their intention. Rather, they deceive their audience and appear foolish for pursuing a young talent in the NFL coaching ranks.
