Coaches and other stakeholders in Iowa discuss Beth Goetz’s “home run” hiring as the Hawkeyes’ permanent AD.

IOWA CITY Coaches in Iowa and other important figures praised Beth Goetz’s hiring and leadership in the hours that followed the announcement of Goetz’s appointment as the University of Iowa’s permanent athletics director on Thursday.

“President Wilson’s selection of Beth Goetz to head our Department of Athletics was a home run. Beth is a cohesive leader with excellent communication and listening skills. Beth is the ideal candidate to guide our department through this dynamic sports environment.

“I’m happy to announce that Beth has been appointed as the newest director of athletics at our university. Beth has demonstrated a great deal of commitment to the University of Iowa and a love for our student-athletes since coming here. Her vision embraces opportunities in the quickly evolving collegiate sports scene while paying respect to the traditions of our athletic departments. Because of her high level of professionalism, I think Beth will be able to succeed in this new era of collegiate athletics.
