Three Crucial Elements for the Season and the Worst-Case Scenario for the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2023–24.

Toronto Maple Leafs 2023-24 Projection: Three Keys to the Season and Worst-Case Scenario - The Hockey News Toronto Maple Leafs News, Analysis and More

The Toronto Maple Leafs’ route to a divisional title has never been more obvious than it was in the Canadian North Division of 2021. Can everything, however, proceed as planned?

Last Year: 50-21-11 (111 points), 2nd in the Atlantic Division (defeated by the Florida Panthers in five games of the second round of the playoffs).

Projected: 1st in the Atlantic Division.

Mitch Marner nearly broke through the 100-point threshold for the first time in his professional life. In terms of assists (87 points) and goals (40), William Nylander recorded career highs. Auston Matthews had what could be regarded as a down year with 40 goals and 45 assists, while John Tavares scored 80 points in 80 games. There will be an abundance of offensive options this season if Matthews can come anywhere near to matching his 60-goal season from 2021–2022 and the rest of the core continues to score points.
