BOSTON BRUINS 2023–24 PROSPECT POOL OVERVIEW.

Tony Ferrari assesses the strengths and weaknesses of the Boston Bruins, one of the few NHL teams with a less impressive prospect pool.

We have the ideal opportunity to examine each team’s prospect pools now that the second half of July has arrived; let’s start this week with the Boston Bruins.

Tony Ferrari examines each team’s advantages and disadvantages, most recent draft class, current positional depth chart, and potential next NHL draft picks in this series. Please take note that for the purposes of these exercises, a player who is no longer eligible to play in the NHL as a rookie is deemed graduated and is no longer a prospect.

It’s not surprising that there is a dearth of prospects in the pipeline when you’re the Boston Bruins, who have been dominant for the past 16 years, and you’ve just finished a season in which you set records for the most wins and points in the regular season. In that time, they have only missed the playoffs twice and have had no trouble trading their first-round picks to strengthen their lineup each year. In the last four drafts, the Bruins have only selected once inside the top 50 and four times inside the top 85.
