Thinking back on the Iowa season, Caitlin Clark becomes emotional and says, “I hope this team brought a lot of joy.”

During the press conference following the national championship game, Caitlin Clark breaks down in tears as she considers Iowa’s season.

Upsets are inevitable in college basketball, which is part of its allure. The No. 2 ranked Iowa Hawkeyes, led by sensation Caitlin Clark, suffered a 65-58 loss to the unranked Kansas State Wildcats because of precisely that.

After the game, Clark discussed the defeat and said, according to ESPN, that Iowa must always play with the same fervor regardless of the opponent. She cited the disappointment she and the team caused the fans.

“It demonstrates the need to be prepared to play basketball every day, regardless of the opponent, as you can win or lose against anyone,” Clark stated. “One fantastic aspect of women’s basketball is that. That’s the main source of its fun. My only disappointment is that we didn’t give our fans, who came out and supported us so much, a truly amazing show.
