Coach McVay laments “self-inflicted wounds” after the Cincinnati Bengals defeat the Los Angeles Rams 19–16.

Cincinnati, Ohio (AP) — On Monday night, when it mattered most, the Los Angeles Rams appeared to have more difficulty finding the end zone.

In the Rams’ first Super Bowl regular-season rematch since the 2021 campaign, they lost 19–16 to the Bengals. Despite Cincinnati’s inability to score a touchdown in the first half due to a strong defense led by Aaron Donald, the Rams’ offense was unable to take advantage due to a young and injured offensive line.

QB Matthew Stafford stated, “I think the biggest thing for us tonight was missed opportunities early in the game in the red zone.” “It will probably be a slightly different game later on if we can pull off a few sevens there.”

The Rams (1-2) only made one of four trips into the red zone. Tutu Atwell scored from the 1-yard line in the last two minutes of play to cut the deficit to three points, but the onside kick that followed was unsuccessful. This was their only touchdown of the game.
