Gregg Popovich Signs New Five-Year Contract With San Antonio Spurs

With the addition of young talent to the San Antonio Spurs this summer, it was anticipated that head coach Gregg Popovich would serve as head coach for one or two more seasons before retiring.

It turns out that for the next five years, the organization will bear his imprint.

Popovich has inked a new five-year contract to stay with the Spurs, the team announced on Saturday.

Having led the Spurs through the first year of a rebuild, Popovich, 74, recently finished the last year of his contract in 2022–2023. He was quite clear in his exit interview that he intended to continue coaching, but nothing formal was signed until the first weekend of Summer League.
