For many years, Luka Doncic has established himself as one of the best players in the NBA right now.

However, that influence was strengthened even more when the Dallas Mavericks star was named the best backcourt player in the league going into the 2023–24 campaign by ESPN’s most recent “NBArank” panel.

Doncic actually dropped one spot from the previous season to No. 4 in the overall rankings, behind frontcourt stars Joel Embiid, Nikola Jokic, and Giannis Antetokounmpo. He was ranked ahead of Steph Curry of Golden State and Jayson Tatum of Boston.

“Doncic, a consistent MVP contender, seems to be in the best physical shape he’s been in in four years or more. Tim MacMahon, an ESPN panelist, stated, “He’s capable of winning the assists title as well as the scoring crown.”
