According to reports, Nick Bosa of the San Francisco 49ers is now the highest-paid NFL defensive player ever.

According to unnamed sources cited by ESPN’s Adam Schefter and NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport on Wednesday, San Francisco 49ers defensive end and current AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year Nick Bosa has agreed to a five-year, $170 million contract extension, making him the highest paid defensive player in NFL history.

Schefter and Rapoport both state that $122.5 million of the deal is guaranteed.

Regarding the terms of the deal, CNN has contacted the 49ers and Bosa’s agent for comment.

Head coach of the San Francisco 49ers Kyle Shanahan explained to reporters that he only learned about the signing three minutes before the start of the news conference on Wednesday.

Naturally excited about it, Shanahan remarked. “I was worried when it didn’t work out the way I had anticipated, so I kind of moved on because I felt like I had to. But that was last week. However, we all knew Nick would receive the kind of reward he did.

He claimed that Bosa deserved the large contract.
