All About Caitlin Clark: Meet The Iowa Basketball Star

(Irwin, Iowa) – In addition to breaking former Hawkeye Megan Gustafson’s record by winning the Big Ten Player of the Week and earning her 24th Big Ten honor, Caitlin Clark also adds three more honors to her trophy cabinet. For her outstanding performances against Michigan State and Rutgers, Clark was named the USBWA Player of the Week, AP Player of the Week, and Naismith Player of the Week.

With just 0.1 seconds left in the game, Clark made headlines across the country with a buzzer-beating three-pointer that gave Iowa the victory over Michigan State. Clark scored forty points and disheveled five assists in that game. After that, Iowa went on the road to play Rutgers, where she recorded her third triple-double of the year with 10 assists, 10 rebounds, and 29 points. Clark not only recorded a triple-double but also earned another double-double, moving up to #10 on the Big Ten all-time list with her 50th double-double.

Clark has made 34% of the Hawkeyes’ shots this season alone, scored 501 of their 1,450 points, and is currently shooting 48.5% from the field. Clark has also been among the best in all three categories this season, averaging 31.3 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 7.6 assists per game. Having made more than half of the Hawkeyes’ three-pointers this season, the senior also lines up first for buckets and three-pointers.

This season, Iowa has surpassed its opponents in both points scored (90.6 points per game) and rebounds (43.6 per game). The Hawkeyes are 15-1 overall and have won all four of their conference games.
