‘The Sun and the Moon’: The White Sox’s asking price for Dylan Cease in the MLB trade rumors.

Dylan Cease is a starting pitcher for the Chicago White Sox, so any team interested in trading for him should be ready to shell out a hefty sum.

As reported by Jon Heyman of the New York Post, an MLB general manager stated that the righty’s asking price from the White Sox is “the sun and the moon.”

Additionally, Chicago has already announced Cease as its Opening Day starter, suggesting the team won’t deal him before the season begins.

In his fifth Major League Baseball season last year, Cease recorded a 7-9 record with 214 strikeouts in 177 innings pitched. According to Baseball Reference, he had a less than stellar 2023, striking out fewer batters, having a higher ERA, and having a lower WAR than he did in 2022. Moreover.

The 28-year-old has two years left under club control, and the White Sox don’t need to hurry up with a trade given the dearth of young, talented starting pitchers available. Cease might be one of the most sought-after names at the July 30 trade deadline because the team has slim chances of making the playoffs in 2024 and at the very least needs significant retooling.

Chicago is reportedly searching for “multiple” high-end prospects as well as some “fill-ins,” according to an early January report from ESPN Jesse Rogers. It doesn’t appear that general manager Chris Getz has changed his mind.

For the time being, Cease can rest easy knowing that he will probably start the season with Chicago after being selected as the Opening Day starter.
