Sherrone Moore’s official introduction as the Michigan football coach: “This place is special.”
ANN ARBOR, MI When Sherrone Moore was formally introduced as the football program’s new head coach, he spoke about how much the University of Michigan means to him.
Following Jim Harbaugh’s departure for the Los Angeles Chargers, Moore, 37, was the clear choice for Michigan. During Harbaugh’s suspensions the previous season, he not only guided the Wolverines to four victories as head coach, but he also has the unwavering support of both his teammates and players.
Continuity is becoming more and more scarce in college football these days. Not only do coaches, players, and recruits frequently change teams, but schools also frequently switch conferences.
Players who stayed in Ann Arbor for multiple years, including Mike Sainristil, Michael Barrett, Blake Corum, Trevor Keegan, and Zak Zinter, were among the reasons Michigan was able to win a national championship the previous season.
Michigan is hoping Moore can build on the foundation Harbaugh laid down the previous nine years. Along with Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, and Ohio State, Michigan is one of the five programs that dominated the four-team playoff era and the only program to have made it to the College Football Playoffs in each of the previous three seasons.
