Caitlin Clark and Lisa Bluder of Iowa women’s basketball advocate for intense play.
Caitlin Clark, a junior guard for Iowa women’s basketball, plays with a lot of passion on the court. However, her passion has suffered recently.
When Clark said to herself, “damn it,” after missing a shot against Northwestern on January 11, she was given a technical foul. The Wildcats missed both technical free throws, and the Hawkeyes prevailed 93-64, so the technical foul had no bearing on the result of the game, but the All-American was still upset about the call.
After the game, Clark remarked, “It’s kind of frustrating, but that’s how things go sometimes.” Playing women’s basketball requires a fierce and passionate style of play. That’s what it’s all about, that’s who I am, and that’s what attracts people to our team and the game. We’re lively, enthusiastic.
The popular T-shirt manufacturer Raygun, located in Iowa City, swiftly created a black shirt bearing the gold-lettered phrase “damn it.” On January 14, Clark posed with a fan who was sporting the shirt during Iowa’s game against Penn State.
