Michigan ace Zak Zinter suffers broken tibia and fibula as Fox refuses to show replay.

Michigan Wolverines fan favorite Zak Zinter suffered a heartbreaking injury that is likely to bring his college football career to an end during “The Game” against rivals the Ohio State Buckeyes.

The offensive guard has been a pivotal player in the No. 3 Wolverines’ running game throughout his career, leading the way for classmate and stellar running back Blake Corum in the famous maize and blue.

But in the final game of the regular season, 22-year-old Zinter suffered a broken tibia and fibia in the third quarter at The Big House in Ann Arbour. FOX announcer Gus Johnson told viewers Zinter “got his knee rolled up on” and the footage was too gruesome to be aired.

Zinter’s mother, posted an update on Instagram confirming her son would be undergoing surgery that night. “Update on Zak,” she wrote on Instagram. “Headed into surgery now… Please pray for Zak’s surgeons, the surgery, a [perfect] recovery and for him to understand the injury! Broken tibia & fibia.

“A HUGE THANK YOU to all of the fans, family, and friends that have gotten in touch! We promise to read them as soon as we have a chance. We are incredibly overwhelmed by love! Positively, he has a 3-0 record against OSU! This is a brotherhood and a TEAM! While he was in the emergency room, they FaceTimed him from the locker room—true brothers! I adore this family and team! GO BLUE FOREVER! #myboy65”

Zinter is incredibly well-liked by the supporters and in the locker room. On the field, his teammates gathered around him while medical professionals attended to him. The crowd chanted, “Let’s Go Zak,” as he was wheeled off the field and lifted off the ground on a stretcher. As he was led through the tunnel, he lifted his arm in acknowledgment.

Corum scored on the play right after Zinter’s injury, fittingly putting Michigan ahead 24–17 in a game that had major ramifications for both the Big Ten and the College Football Playoff picture. Zinter prevailed in his last game as a Wolverine, winning a thrilling match by a score of 30 to 24, maintaining their hopes of winning the championship.
