UConn men’s basketball standout Star Player to miss Saturday’s game vs. St. John’s with injury And…
Due to an ankle sprain, sophomore forward Karaban of UConn will miss the Huskies’ rivalry game against St. John’s. About six minutes into UConn’s Wednesday night game against Providence, he sustained the injury. Five minutes or so later, Karaban returned to the game and played 32 minutes, tallying 14 points. But after the game, coach Dan Hurley said that he was still struggling and that his ankle was extremely swollen.
Hurley stated on Friday that Karaban would be chosen at the start of the game. Before the game on Saturday, he warmed up and appeared somewhat agile as he made jump shots. He didn’t seem to be quite ready to leave, though.
For the Huskies, Karaban averages 14.5 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. He was just named a Top 10 Candidate for the Karl Malone Award, which is given to the best power forward in the country.
