Without Azzi Fudd, UConn’s Paige Bueckers will need to become “more aggressive.”

The focus of attention switches to star player Paige Bueckers as the UConn women’s basketball team gets ready for their Sunday matchup against Minnesota, without teammate Azzi Fudd. Due to Fudd’s knee injury, Bueckers recognizes the need for her to play with more aggression, particularly on the offensive end.

It will be difficult for Bueckers, who is renowned for her dynamic play, to cover for Fudd’s outstanding shooting ability. With a 38.6 percent three-point shooting percentage, Fudd has been a vital component of UConn’s offensive strategy. He leaves big shoes to fill.

“But without a doubt, with Azzi out, I’m going to need to step up my offensive game, hunt more shots, and especially, hunt more threes. Taking just three threes against Maryland, I didn’t do a very good job of that, according to Bueckers, as reported by Dom Amore of the Hartford Courant. “I just focus on what the game and the team need right now, not on being the top scorer. I just take what the game gives me and what kind of aggression level I need to have.”

In their most recent win over Maryland, UConn showed that they could adjust. Under the direction of coach Geno Auriemma, the team received important contributions from a number of players. The fifth-year senior Aubrey Griffin stepped up.

Auriemma is proud of the team’s tenacity, emphasizing their capacity to function even in the absence of important players: “We don’t cry,” he declared.

Paige Bueckers’ hometown team, Minnesota, is the opponent for eighth-ranked UConn, which has a 2-1 record. The focus is on how Bueckers and her teammates will modify their style of play. The game in Minneapolis will serve as a barometer for the Huskies’ capacity to stay competitive even without a player as special as Fudd.
