Huge Setback: The strong player reject Resigning with the Dallas Mavericks in the favor of the…

According to NBA insider Marc Stein, the Dallas Mavericks are reportedly giving power forwards priority over small forwards in the trade rumors involving Washington Wizards power forward Kyle Kuzma.

As per Stein’s report, Dallas is seeking additional bulk to help with its defensive shortcomings. Kuzma and PJ Washington, the power forward for the Charlotte Hornets, have surfaced as potential trade possibilities for the Dallas Mavericks.

“Dallas has been frequently mentioned as a potential trade suitor for both Washington’s Kyle Kuma and Charlotte’s Washington in recent weeks and are still, I’m told, prioritizing power forwards over small forwards in its quest to address the team’s size and defensive shortcomings,” Stein stated.

Kuzma is averaging 21.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game in his third season in Washington, despite the Wizards’ poor record of 9-39.

The Mavericks, headed by star Luka Dončić, have been an offensive force to reckon with this season, but their defense has been a major factor in their eighth-place finish in the Western Conference. Dallas’ defense, rated at 117.9, is ranked 24th this season.

There aren’t many real big guys on the Mavericks’ roster, so their lack of size is undoubtedly a problem. They might get some relief from their problems if they add the 6’9″ Kuzma.

Additionally, if Dallas makes a deal for Washington, a 6-foot-7 player with good defensive ability who averages

This season, 0.8 blocks. Given that Washington only scores 13.6 points per game on average, Kuzma would provide the Mavericks with more scoring options, but they would also probably have to pay a premium for him.

Regardless of the path the Mavericks choose, it’s obvious that they may want more defensive support to advance.
