Packers sent awesome letter to fan who jokingly applied for…

Mark Murphy, the CEO and president of the Green Bay Packers, is obviously very funny.

On Sunday, a fan of the Packers posted a handwritten note he claims his cousin received after he made a mock application to be the team’s defensive coordinator this offseason. Murphy wrote the note, playing along and stating that the applicant’s fantasy football experience wowed the staff. Murphy then made a joke about how the fan would be a great addition to the coaching staff of the rival Chicago Bears.

“Bill, We appreciate you sending us your resume and cover letter for the Defensive Coordinator vacancy. I regret to notify you that, despite your great fantasy football experience, we have decided to take a different course. I’ve heard that the Bears have a spot open, and you seem like the ideal candidate. Once again, thank you. Best regards, Mark,” the letter said.

It’s clear that Murphy enjoyed the fan’s application. Murphy chose to offer the fan an amazing memento instead of throwing it in the trash and thinking it was a waste of time like many executives would have.

This offseason, the Packers parted ways with former defensive coordinator Joe Barry. The person they hired to replace him then took a few by surprise, although their new DC is marginally more experienced than the fantasy football manager. However, you can’t fault a guy for trying, and Murphy had to appreciate the hustle.
