ESPN: champion Mick Foley catches Caitlin Clark ‘Ma…

The public face of collegiate women’s basketball is Caitlin Clark. Anyone who has followed the sports world even remotely over the past two years is aware of this knowledge. Her outstanding performance has greatly increased interest in women’s basketball. The sport is gaining fresh media coverage and winning over new supporters around the country.

Now that he has another ardent follower, Clark is considered to be among the best in his field. The Iowa point guard has gained admirers, including none other than Mick Foley, a former professional wrestler. The former WWE (now WWF) champion declared his infatuation for Caitlin Mania on Facebook.

In his Facebook post, the legendary hardcore wrestler appears to be sporting a shirt that features Clark, his new favorite athlete. He disclosed that he had purchased a ticket to see Iowa play No. 13 Indiana on February 22 in Bloomington, Indiana, so he will finally get to see her in person.

Foley, an ardent supporter of Indiana basketball, is a native of Bloomington, Indiana. The man formerly known as Mankind is ultimately realizing his boyhood ambition of attending a live game featuring his all-time favorite team. Getting to see Caitlin Clark face to face, though, was what ultimately convinced him to buy a ticket.

Even the “significant after-market mark-up” was unable to deter Mankind.

Count me among those who have fully embraced the immense #CaitlinMania frenzy that has engulfed the sports industry. Gradually, I became obsessed with Caitlin after observing her impressive long-range baskets on SportsCenter ESPN. Her sophomore season was unlike anything I had ever seen in women’s basketball.

Over the ensuing year, I found myself searching for her on YouTube. During those initial YouTube trips, I couldn’t even remember her name. I would simply type in “Iowa women’s basketball” and keep marveling at Clark’s skill at long-range shooting and her later ability to drive the lane, find an open teammate, and see the entire floor in a way that very few women (or men) can.

Even though I was unable to see Caitlin’s incredible run to the 2023 NCAA Finals due to scheduling conflicts, I have improved my level of involvement and initiative for the 2023–2024 season. I’ve been keeping track of the Iowa women’s schedule, watching the games when I can stay at home and recording the ones I can’t.

And then, just a few minutes ago, the undeniable proof that CaitlinMania is out of control, brother: I bought one ticket (at a big after-market markup) for Iowa’s road game versus Indiana on February 22. Being a devoted IU men’s basketball fan growing up—I even penned a poem on the Hoosiers’ 1976 NCAA championship—going to an IU game at Assembly Hall is something people dream of doing. That childhood fantasy comes true on February 22nd!

A game ticket purchased after the fact costs $240. $200 is enough for gas to cover 1,500 kilometers. Accommodation: $150. The privilege of witnessing a collegiate phenomenon transform and expand women’s basketball is incomparable. – Mick Foley.

As women’s basketball and Caitlin Clark have gained popularity, more and more well-known celebrities are showing an interest in the sport. This is arguably the coolest conceivable collaboration of figures, in my opinion. It’s amazing to see my all-time favorite wrestler donning a Caitlin Clark shirt.

Mick, I promise you’re going to be in for a treat on February 22 if you’re reading this at all. Mick, have a good day as well!
