Report: The Atlanta Hawks star player is been suspended from all sports from a placing bets against….
It appears that the point guard for the Hawks will be an All-Star after all.
Young and Raptors forward Scottie Barnes have been selected as injured substitutes for Knicks forward Julius Randle and 76ers center Joel Embiid for the 2024 NBA All-Star Game, the NBA announced today.
Young has been named an All-Star three times now (2020 and 2022), and each time is well-deserved. With an NBA scoring average of 27.3 points per game and an average of 10.9 assists, Young is the second-leading scorer in the league. You could argue that he ought to have been on the squad from the start, but he has been among the most productive guards in the NBA this season, and for good reason.
Following Friday’s victory over the Phoenix Suns, Young was questioned about his decision to not play in the All-Star game. Here is what he had to say:
“I got a lot of love for the fans, but I don’t have much to say about it right now.”
Next, it was questioned of Young if he would accept an invitation to play in the All-Star Game as a replacement for an injury:
“Yeah I mean… I would just because I am not just representing myself and instead of being selfish and being an A**hole… I am just being honest… I could but I know I am not just representing myself and I haven’t got offered yet or who knows if they would offer me so that is how funny it is but I know if I do, I would not just be representing myself so I would go, but I have to get the invite first”

LeBron James and other NBA players have been agitating for Young to play in the All-Star game:
James said, “Agreed!!!” in response to a tweet concerning Young’s exclusion from the All-Star Game. This is beyond my understanding! Since cats have a history of getting in with much nastier records, it can’t be about Ws/Ls. He’s the one that cooks at night! Put an end to it! He is undoubtedly an All-Star. There’s definitely something off.”

Young was selected the Eastern Conference Player of the Week just yesterday.
It was Young’s sixth career honor and first of the season.
Young guided the Hawks to a perfect 3-0 record in three games played this past week. In 39.5 minutes of play, he averaged 31.0 points on.569 FG% (33-58 FGM),.645 3FG% (20-31 3FGM), and.778 FT% (7-9 FTM), along with 11.3 assists, 1.7 steals, and 1.0 rebound. According to Elias Sports, the 25-year-old became the first player in NBA history to average at least 30.0 points and 10.0 assists on.500%/.600%/.700% shooting splits, and the first player since Dwyane Wade (3/6/09–3/9/09) to do so with at least 20 three-pointers.
This past week, Young led the Eastern Conference in APG (11.3), 3FGM (6.7), and 3FG% (.645%, minimum 15 3FGA), tied for sixth in PPG (31.0), and tied for fifth in FGM (11.0) and SPG (1.67).
Although Young’s offensive prowess will make him an All-Star, his defensive development deserves equal recognition.
After the Hawks’ defeat by the Pacers earlier this season, the subject of Young’s defense came up, and Snyder was eager to commend Young for his efforts in that regard:
“I’m delighted you asked; I’ve been saying this all year long and it’s true that people form narratives about themselves. I can show you a lengthy clip of the times he has picked up full court, and it is something that has to be discussed. He has been good both on and off the ball, and he has competed. It’s not—you will discuss Trae’s fantastic offensive performance today, which he did—but one of the things I told him early in the season was that even if his shots weren’t falling, he didn’t stop defending, and that is encouraging to see from all of our guys. That is the mindset we must adopt. We played against a really strong offensive club tonight, and there are certain areas where we clearly need to improve defensively.”
Although Young will never be selected for the All-Defensive team, he has made an attempt to have an influence in that regard.
