For context, Brown was targeted 11 times in the final three games against Louisville, Boston College, and Rutgers, allowing eight receptions for 71 yards and one touchdown. Despite under pressure from all three teams, the rookie only gave up 8.9 yards per reception. Brown will be more prepared to take on the top receivers college football has to offer after having his first full offseason to hone his skills.
Brown is expected to play opposite Daryl Porter, Jr. this season and be a fantastic cornerback duo. Brown’s tried-and-true ability to play against elite players paired with Porter’s shrewdness and demonstrated playmaking allow the Canes to attack opposition offenses by press-man coverage, off-man, or by mixing and matching their plays.
Brown is a cornerback with exceptional size, length, and all-around talent that very few teams will have. He can move up much further, and Miami’s defense might be among the top five in the country in 2024. He would allow the opposing team’s quarterback even more time to be tackled by a UM front seven, and Miami already had 35 sacks in 2023.
If these three players step up and help the team make significant improvements that result in wins, Miami has a chance to enter the playoffs. The Canes will be strong favorites to make it to the 2024 College Football Playoff if every one of them plays to the best of their abilities.
