PURPOSE OF THE NEW YORK JETS IN 2024: A SUMMARY.

Although we examined some of those difficult choices earlier in the week, Rodgers is correct to be upbeat about the future of this team. Although it’s difficult to accept another season without playoff football, everyone at 1JD is equally, if not more, frustrated than we are.

With 21 players scheduled to become free agents, the Jets will have to make many difficult decisions regarding their roster. Regular starters like Mekhi Becton, Connor McGovern, Jordan Whitehead, Quinton Jefferson, Greg Zurlein, Thomas Morstead, Justin Hardee, and standout pass-rusher Bryce Huff are among the players in that group.

The team will change significantly in 2024, but the core will stay the same because you can’t keep everyone and build the side. In addition to talking about his abilities as a recruiter, Rodgers will need to make his best pitch before he can sign an NFL contract. This is similar to how college coaches travel the nation in advance of National Signing Day.

Having said that, the Jets do have a few significant advantages as we enter an offseason that will determine this team’s future. What advantages do the Jets have, then? Let’s enumerate the qualities, a la questionable dating show from the 1990s.

First, the most obvious: Aaron Rodgers, a future Hall of Fame quarterback for the Jets, has publicly stated that he does not see 2024 as his last season. If you’re a player, especially an offensive player, you can join knowing that the team’s captain in 2024 and beyond will be among the greatest to have ever played the game. That is a pretty significant selling point, if you want one.

One of the best defenses in football right now is the Jets’, and most of the core is signed through 2024. Athletes that are here to stay include Quinnen, CJ Mosley, Quincy, Sauce, MC2, Reed, Johnson, JFM, and others. Being able to say you have a top-10 defensive unit is a huge plus when pitching to free agents on any side of the ball, especially if that unit has limitless potential.
