Report: The Denver Broncos star player is been suspended from all sports for placing a bet against…

With the Super Bowl behind us, get ready for what promises to be an incredible #DraftSzn at Denver Broncos headquarters. Last week, head coach Sean Payton was busy touring Radio Row, and naturally, a lot of his chats focused on the quarterback situation for the Broncos.

We discovered how highly Payton regards his quarterback’s ability to be a “quick processor,” and we also discovered that there is still hope that the Broncos and Russell Wilson may work things out.

When Payton was interviewed by each presenter, he made passing mention of the Big 3 quarterbacks in the 2024 selection class. Payton, ranked No. 12 in the first round, needs to put together an offer that a potential trade partner in the top-3 can’t refuse if he hopes to actually snag one.

According to Trevor Sikkema of Pro Football Focus, Payton’s situation will play out as follows: the Washington Commanders will trade their No. 2 pick to the Broncos in order to choose quarterback Drake Maye of North Carolina. Let’s look at the compensation first.

A 2024 first-round pick (pick number 12), a 2025 first-round pick, a 2025 second-round pick, and a 2026 first-round pick are awarded to commanders.

A 2024 first-round pick (No. 2) is awarded to the Broncos.

I think there will be a fierce competition for quarterbacks in this draft, and we’ll see evidence of that following free agency.

Teams hoping to move up for a quarterback include the Vikings, Raiders, Falcons, and Broncos. Here, I’ve got an aggressive Sean Payton who jumps from No. 12 to No. 2 by forgoing the same salary contract that the 49ers gave to acquire Trey Lance in 2021 at No. 12 instead of No. 3.

The idea of forfeiting first-round selections in the upcoming two years makes Broncos Country wince, especially considering that they haven’t had a Day 1 pick since 2021. But Super Bowl LVIII demonstrated just how all-or-nothing the NFL is.
