NFL, please, for the love of God, don’t let Dan Quinn be a head coach once more.

For the third year in a row, the Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator is receiving head coaching attention from the media. I would be remiss if I didn’t intervene and alert the NFL’s general managers to the fact that this man should never be permitted to lead a team again.

You might be wondering at this point, “What’s wrong with Dan Quinn?” His success has been mixed. During his five and a quarter seasons there, he guided the Atlanta Falcons to two postseason appearances and an NFC championship.

Yes, he did guide them to the NFC Championship. Afterwards, on his way to the greatest choke job in Super Bowl history, he gave up a 28-3 lead to the New England Patriots.

Quinn, who is regarded as a defensive wizard, let James White and Tom Brady blow holes in his defense and score 31 points just in the second half.

According to Pro Football Reference, in Quinn’s four full seasons in Atlanta, the team only twice finished outside the bottom 10 in points against, placing a respectable 14th in 2015 and an outstanding eighth in 2017. Aside from that one successful season, they also placed 27th in 2016, 25th in 2018, and 23rd in 2019, the year Quinn insisted on juggling the positions of defensive coordinator and head coach.
