Breaking: The Alabama Crimson Tide football head coach reacts to the sudden death of his key player.

We discussed how sometimes it pours good news when it rains on Thursday night.

Following the Oregon Ducks’ acquisition of five-star wide receiver Evan Stewart through the transfer portal, that observation was made. The icing on the cake on a day that will always be remembered was when head coach Dan Lanning officially declined the Alabama Crimson Tide job was Stewart’s decision.

Then Friday arrived, bringing with it the news that Oregon’s fiercest opponent, the Oregon Ducks, was losing head coach Kalen DeBoer to Alabama, a position Lanning had declined. Despite UW’s 34-13 loss to Michigan in the College Football Playoff national title game in 2024, DeBoer’s incredible career record of 104-12 was maintained.

The decision puts Washington in a terrible situation. Without its highly skilled head coach and a roster full of outstanding players—many of whom have declared for the 2024 NFL draft—it enters the Big Ten.

For Duck supporters, this week has been filled with festivities that date back to Monday night, when Oregon was commemorating Washington’s defeat in the national championship game. That celebration will now last the entire weekend. The following are a few social media responses:
