ESPN REPORT: Another Mega Star Commits To Alabama Crimson Tide football
There have been numerous changes to the Alabama football program after their semifinal Rose Bowl loss to Michigan in the College Football Playoffs. Several significant departures were made through the transfer portal, Nick Saban has retired, and a couple of 2024 pledges chose to sign with other teams. ESPN has grown tired of the Crimson Tide for all of the aforementioned reasons.
It’s crucial to keep in mind that, despite the abundance of bad news, there has also been a lot of good news. In addition to having a solid staff and a track record of success, the new head coach Kalen DeBoer has made several noteworthy additions through the recruiting trail and transfer portal.
Alabama was ranked fourth in ESPN’s much too early Top 25 for the 2024 college football season, but that ranking has since changed. The Crimson Tide dropped to No. 9 in the most recent rankings, placing DeBoer’s squad as the fifth-ranked SEC team.
It’s pointless to be upset about a top-10 position, but it’s interesting to be fifth in the conference the Tide just won.
ESPN’s Marco Schlabach writes,
“With Downs and highly regarded quarterback Julian Sayin moving to Ohio State, Bond and tight end Amari Niblack moving to Texas, offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor returning to Iowa, and multiple players departing for the NFL, Alabama’s transition under former Washington coach Kalen DeBoer has already been difficult. To make matters worse, last week saw the hiring of offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb and offensive line coach Scott Huff by the Seattle Seahawks. Tinkertoys were not used to construct Saban’s dynasty, therefore the Crimson Tide will be alright in the long term.
The Crimson Tide’s 2024 campaign, and the era of quarterback Kale DeBoer, kicks off in Tuscaloosa on August 31 versus Western Kentucky. We don’t know what to anticipate from Alabama or where they will be ranked when the season begins. But competing for a national championship and the conference championship remains the standard.
The Alabama football season will be covered by Roll Tide Wire through the 2024 offseason.
