A group from North Dakota sues Washington Commanders in federal court.

Valley News Live, Fargo, North Dakota – A non-profit organization with its headquarters in North Dakota has filed a lawsuit against The National Congress of American Indians (NCAI), the owner of the NFL team, the senior manager of the Washington Commanders, and the team.

As per the lawsuit, Josh Harris, the owner of the Washington Commanders, is being asked to rename the team as the Washington Redskins through an online petition launched by The Native American Guardian’s Association (NAGA). The non-profit NAGA is situated in Devils Lake, North Dakota.

The lawsuit lists civil conspiracy, defamation, and conspiracy to violate civil rights against Harris, the Commanders, and NCAI, as well as accusations of defamation against Matthew Laux and the Commanders.

According to the lawsuit, “NAGA’s members were huge Redskin fans precisely because they were the Redskins.” The NFL team in question was the only one to pay tribute to a real Native American. The stoic face of Chief White Calf on the helmets of professional football players made them proud as they watched them engage in a different kind of battle. They were paying tribute to his bravery as well as the courage, tenacity, and fearlessness ingrained in their past. That is, until luxury ticket box owners were falsely accused of NAGA by Josh Harris (Harris), who erased him and had his employee do it.
