SAD NEWS:”I might not play again” Milwaukee Brewers star reveals after…….
San Diego is still chasing its first win in the Cactus League.
After suffering back-to-back losses to the Los Angeles Dodgers to start the preseason season, the San Diego Padres take on the Milwaukee Brewers at Peoria Sports Complex today in an attempt to win their first Cactus League game.
The Padres will field a number of regulars in their lineup because it’s a “home game”:
Pedro Avila, a right-hander, will start working to earn a regular spot in the San Diego Padres’ lineup. Last season, in 14 games (six starts), the 27-year-old Venezuelan finished 2-2 with a 3.22 ERA for the Padres.
Rob Zastryzny, a seasoned left-hander, will open for the Milwaukee Brewers in their inaugural Cactus League game.
The first pitch is set at 12:10 p.m. Pacific Time.
How to View
Radio is your only choice because neither the Padres nor the Brewers will be sending a broadcast team to the game.
In San Diego, the game will air on KWFN (97.3-FM). You may also access the Brewers stream (WTMJ) on the MLB app.
Forecasts
At some point, the Padres have to prevail. In addition, they have played two games (while Milwaukee has played none) and will have the support of the home crowd, which is anticipated to be sizable this weekend.
Final score: Brewers 3, Padres 8.
Further
For the Padres, Jackson Merrill will start in left field once more. One of baseball’s best prospects, Merrill was selected and raised as a shortstop but is now trying his hand at left field, where the Padres are in greater need of support. Against the Dodgers on Thursday, he made a diving catch, and he will try to keep improving.
Avila has been with the team for a long time, primarily as a relief pitcher, but during his six starts in the previous campaign, he had promising signs. With a solid spring training, he might rise up the pecking order behind veterans Yu Darvish and Joe Musgrove, since the Padres lack depth in their rotation.
