Lakers: Following a devastating Suns loss, LeBron James asks Anthony Davis for assistance

LeBron James opened up about the Los Angeles Lakers’ troubles on the defensive boards during the team’s 123-113 defeat to the Phoenix Suns on Sunday. He stated that the guards must support Anthony Davis in order for the team to get more rebounds after forcing stops.

LeBron James stated, via Daniel Starkand of Lakers Nation, “They spread your defense out a lot so you’re out on the perimeter a lot, you’re contesting a lot of threes.” “As the guards and forwards, we need to do a better job of returning and attempting to crash to assist AD. Many of the long rebounds went over AD’s head, and Nurk was able to force him to get under the hoop where he got most of his offensive rebounds. I don’t think we talked about Royce O’Neal’s pair of crashes from the corners enough before the game, and we should have made a point of his crashing. So moving forward, we’ll do that better. Though we’ve improved recently, it still stung us today. But we’ve improved.

The Lakers’ overall record dipped to 31-28 after the Suns’ defeat. As a result, the Lakers and Golden State Warriors are tied for tenth place in the Western Conference. For the last Play-In Tournament position, they lead the Utah Jazz by four games.
