A former prospect for the Milwaukee Brewers passed away after attempting to enter Mexico from the United States.
The Dominican Republic newspaper El Diario Nuevo said on Friday that Aaron Familia, 24, a native of the Dominican Republic, had a heart attack this week in Mexico.
We regret to inform you about Aaron’s demise. “The Brewers extend their deepest sympathies to his family and friends during this trying time,” the team said in a statement on Friday night.
Familia last competed for the Brewers in 2019 with the Biloxi Shuckers, their Arizona League club.
In 2015, the infielder became an international free agent and accepted a $300,000 signing bonus.

2016 saw Familia make his professional debut with the team’s affiliate in the Dominican Summer League.
In 59 games, he hit.289 with five home runs and 38 RBI during his greatest season in the Dominican Summer League in 2017. He was promoted to the Shuckers for the 2018 campaign.
After the 2019, Familia’s career came to an end. In 530 at-bats across 167 games, he finished with an average of.242, 10 home runs, 72 RBI, and 128 hits.
