Following two years of poor performance on the court, head basketball coach Chris Holtmann was sacked by the Ohio State Buckeyes earlier this month.
Assistant Jake Diebler assumed the role of interim head coach in Holtmann’s absence, and he has guided the Buckeyes to a 2-1 record, including a thrilling victory over the No. 2 Purdue Boilermakers.
But the hunt is still on for Holtmann’s real replacement, and Eleven Warriors rumors indicate that one candidate may have already risen to the top of the list.
Miller meets the Buckeyes’ criteria perfectly as one of the more seasoned coaches in the league today.
His seven combined seasons at Xavier have given him extensive knowledge of the state of Ohio. In addition, he has a career record of 455-170 over 19 seasons and has made 12 appearances in the NCAA Tournament, including eight visits to the Sweet 16 and four trips to the Elite Eight.
Miller spent the most of his 19 seasons as a coach at Arizona, where he achieved the greatest success. Seven NCAA tournaments were reached throughout that span, along with four seasons with 30 or more victories, three more with 25 wins or more, and three appearances in the Elite Eight.
