Tuesday’s release of quarterback Nick Tiano by the St. Louis Battlehawks was one of the most unexpected actions of the early UFL offseason.

Last season, in Week 8 against the Vegas Vipers, Tiano made his only start for the Battlehawks and helped the team win 21-17 in overtime. In addition to 51 yards gained on the ground, he concluded the season with 199 yards passing with one touchdown and two interceptions.

As a result of this trade, Manny Wilkins is the only quarterback available for St. Louis. This may pave the way for AJ McCarron, the team’s starting quarterback in 2023, to return.

Speaking with Matty Fresh of Springball Boulevard two weeks ago, McCarron stated he was still considering rejoining the team. He was considering a number of things, such as compensation and the player union.

Following Joe Burrow’s injury, McCarron secured a contract with the Cincinnati Bengals after having an MVP-caliber season in the XFL.

The coach of the Battlehawks, Anthony Becht, hinted on Tuesday on X that the team will be receiving some huge news.
