Melton, a native of Mays Landing and a graduate of Cedar Creek High School, put on an amazing show at Lucas Oil Stadium on Friday, setting unofficial numbers for his first 40-yard dash of 4.39 and his second try of 4.40.
This comes after Melton attracted notice for his remarkable broad jump of 11 feet, 4 inches, which was the best among cornerbacks, and his 40½-inch vertical jump.
Melton hopes to follow in the footsteps of former Scarlet Knights defensive backs Jason and Devin McCourty, as well as Christian Izien and Tre Avery, to become the next to succeed in the NFL.
In addition, he would be entering the professional ranks after his brother Bo, a wide receiver who excelled at Rutgers before getting selected by the Seahawks in the seventh round of the 2022 draft and currently playing for the Packers.
Melton produced 32 tackles (four for loss), three interceptions, and nine pass breakups in 12 games during his fourth and final season at Rutgers.

Schiano predicted that Max will excel as a football player in the National Football League. “He possesses every ability. He has the right attitude to succeed. Because he is so physically endowed, I believe he will also (become better) at draft prep.
Melton was also a standout player on special teams, and Schiano claimed to have pushed him to try out for the NFL.
