ESPN REPORT: The head coach of the Milwaukee Brewers is fired because of…
In Milwaukee Brewers training this spring, the main theme has been youth thus far.
Although the Brewers have added big-name veterans like Rhys Hoskins and Gary Sanchez, there are still a lot of bright prospects vying for a spot on the opening-day roster. It’s a wonderful problem to have, no doubt…
Some of the biggest stars have already been sent to minor-league camp, including right-hander Jacob Misiorowski, catcher Jeferson Quero, and third baseman Brock Wilken. As the days pass and the players who have been guaranteed roster slots experience an increase in playing time, there will be more.
However, as Milwaukee’s front office and coaching staff consider the different roster permutations, outfielder Jackson Chourio, infielders Joey Ortiz and Tyler Black, and left-hander DL Hall are probably going to be in the mix all the way up to the last day.
“To be honest, there aren’t many roster decisions to make,” manager Pat Murphy remarked. “I won’t tell you everything because the guys in there might think there’s more.” However, there aren’t many to be made.
However, injuries are still a possibility, as are the surprising individuals who have had breakout performances in the last few weeks and deserve to be given more serious consideration.
Furthermore, the Brewers have a history of making player acquisitions as other clubs start to pare down their rosters. As a result, one or more outside acquisitions are virtually a given before the deadline for setting 26-man rosters in the final hours before opening day on March 28.
Having said that, this is our best estimation of the situation as we approach the fourth week of camp.

RL DL Hall, RH; Freddy Peralta, LH RH Colin Rea Joe Ross, R.H. Junis Jakob
Peralta is the team’s new ace and the first player to play from the start. Wade Miley is already playing catch-up after experiencing some shoulder weakness early in camp; this isn’t a catastrophic issue, but it will likely force him to start the season on the injured list.
The Brewers could theoretically forego his place and be OK with four starters to start the season if that turns out to be the case because there are enough off days early in the schedule. Additionally, they have Taylor Clarke and Bryse Wilson, both relievers, who are being stretched out and might be of assistance in the interim.
Hall seems to be a lock after those two. The Brewers are huge fans of his makeup and skill set, and they’ll give him every chance to establish himself as a major league starter.
The picture becomes less clear after Hall. After the Brewers called him back because to his excellent job after Brandon Woodruff’s shoulder injury last season, Rea is expected to earn another chance.
Returning from a two-season absence due to Tommy John surgery, Ross is healthy once more but seems more at ease in a starting role. Conversely, Junis performed admirably in 2022 and 2023 as a swingman for the San Francisco Giants, so it makes sense to assign him to a comparable position with Milwaukee.
Aaron Ashby appears to be nearly fully recovered from shoulder surgery in 2023. However, since the left-hander is still working on some finer elements of his game and his velocity isn’t quite back to normal, it would make sense to start him in Class AAA Nashville while he works out the kinks.
Robert Gasser, a left-handed prospect, is unlikely to make the opening-day roster, but he will undoubtedly play in the major leagues eventually.
The Brewers’ star player these days is Freddy Peralta.

RL Joel Payamps, LH Bryan Hudson, RH Taylor Clarke, RH Bryse Wilson, RH Abner Uribe, RH Elvis Peguero, LH Hoby Milner, RH JB Bukauskas
Wilson, Devin Williams, Payamps, Uribe, Milner, and Wilson are all locked in, albeit Williams has been sidelined temporarily due to a back problem. If Uribe starts the season on the injured list, he could be a good substitute. We’ll suppose Williams will miss some time early for our purposes here.
After a successful year as a setup man, Payamps is returning. Is there any chance that he will regress? If so, there are choices for the Brewers. With Hudson, an offseason signing who has had a great camp, Milner may have another southpaw to work with after two years of being as dependable as they come.
