Kerr: Stephen Curry Unlikely to Return from Injury for Warriors vs. Luka Dončić, Mavs
Superstar guard Stephen Curry is not expected to play against the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday due to an ankle ailment, according to head coach Steve Kerr of the Golden State Warriors.
“I don’t expect him to play,” Kerr remarked in reference to Curry when addressing reporters:
After Curry sprained his right ankle late in the Chicago Bulls game on Thursday, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski said that, although he will probably miss some time, Curry was not anticipated to miss “many games.”
Curry missed both a Saturday loss to the San Antonio Spurs and a Monday victory against them due to the ailment.
In the Warriors’ inconsistent season, the two-time MVP has been the one constant contributor. He is shooting 44.7 percent from the field and 40.7 percent from beyond the arc, averaging 26.9 points, 4.9 made three-pointers, 4.9 assists, and 4.4 rebounds.
The Warriors have saw Draymond Green miss a portion of the season due to behavior issues, Andrew Wiggins’ play collapse, and Klay Thompson battle immensely with consistency. However, they have recently discovered their niche, winning 15 of the last 21 games to improve to 34-30.
The Warriors will now occupy the final berth in the postseason play-in tournament, which is 10th place in the Western Conference.
Although Golden State is not in immediate danger of losing that spot, it will be more difficult to climb the rankings with each game that Curry misses.
Curry’s next opportunity to suit up is Saturday on the road against the ninth-place Los Angeles Lakers if he is unable to play on Wednesday.
