ESPN REPORT: Another StronSelection Sunday’s announcement of the women’s NCAA tournament bracket revealed Caitlin Clark and the No. 2 seed Iowa Hawkeyes’ route to a possible run at the Final Four.

After earning the Naismith Player of the Year Award the previous season, Clark was named a semifinalist for the award last week. Since Iowa defeated Nebraska 94-89 in overtime on March 10, he has had a week to recover. She has rewritten record after record this season, leading the country in scoring (32 points per game) and assists (8.6 per game). On March 3, Clark overtook Pete Maravich to become the all-time top scorer in NCAA Division I with 3,771 career points.

With a 29-4 record and a third consecutive Big Ten Tournament title, Iowa was chosen as the top seed in Albany Regional 2. On Saturday, March 23 at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City, the Hawkeyes will take on the victor of Holy Cross and the University of Tennessee-Martin in the opening round of the tournament. ABC will kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET.

In the second round on Monday, March 25, the Hawkeyes will take on the victor of West Virginia and Princeton if they advance. The game will start at TBD.

Columnist Nancy Armour notes that the Iowa women have a difficult road ahead of them if they hope to return to the Final Four. In the regional final, there might be a Sweet 16 game between Kansas State and possibly LSU.

Holy Cross (20-12) and UT Martin (16-16) square off in a play-in game on Thursday, March 21 in Iowa City at 9 p.m. ET (ESPN2). In the opening round on Saturday, the victor takes on Iowa.
