ESPN REPORT: The Alabama Head Coach is Being Fired Due to…
TUSCALOOSA, Alabama: The 2023 college football season has already seen the coaching carousel begin to rotate. Additionally, it has an impact on two SEC programs.
Ironically, after facing each other on Saturday and the Aggies winning 51-10, head coaches Jimbo Fisher of Texas A&M and Zach Arnett of Mississippi State were fired in the previous two days.
Nick Saban, the head coach of Alabama and the longest-tenured coach in the SEC and the nation, responded to the news on Monday morning.
“I dislike it when people are let go, or whatever you want to call it in this industry,” Saban remarked. “I am aware of how diligent everyone is. I am aware of how challenging it may be to create a program that consistently produces athletes that compete at a high level. Simply put, admire those that put forth a great deal of effort to try to improve the lives of the guys they train and help them become better individuals. As you work to develop them on the football field, assist them in making the proper educational decisions.
But in our line of work, performance and results are what count toward your evaluation. I detest seeing someone go through something like this. I’ve previously been let go. It’s not enjoyable. Your family won’t enjoy it. However, based on their professional accomplishments, I’m confident that both of those guys have excellent reputations. They’ll have plenty more chances to succeed in the future, I’m sure.
This season, Alabama defeated Mississippi State and Texas A&M. It was Arnett’s first full season as head coach of the Aggies, and Fisher was in his sixth season. Fisher was an early 2000s LSU assistant to head coach Nick Saban.
