ESPN REPORT: Details on Kyle Shanahan suspension.
INSANITY, California Coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch will be employed by the San Francisco 49ers for an extended period of time.
In light of this, the Niners on Friday revealed that Shanahan and Lynch had received multiyear contract extensions. Following San Francisco’s 30-12 victory over the New York Giants on Thursday night, the Niners advanced to 3-0 on the season—their second such start in the previous four years. These transactions follow the game.
In 2017, Shanahan and Lynch moved to San Francisco together and signed identical six-year contracts to begin playing their respective roles. Following a complete overhaul in the initial years, the Niners have emerged as one of the league’s most reliably prosperous teams.

The Niners have participated in two NFC Championship Games, won a Super Bowl, and amassed 45 regular-season wins (tied for fourth most in the NFL) in addition to six postseason triumphs (second).
Following three different head coaches in three seasons (Jim Harbaugh, Jim Tomsula, and Chip Kelly) from 2014 to 2016, Niners CEO Jed York fired general manager Trent Baalke and Kelly in an effort to provide stability to the top of the team following a 2-14 season.
York was looking for a general manager and coach that could push each other to improve while being in agreement. He selected Shanahan, the offensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons at the time, to be the coach. Following a round of interviews, he shocked the NFL community by appointing Lynch, who was working out of the Fox broadcast booth, as general manager.
York expressed his satisfaction with Lynch and Shanahan’s performance since joining at the league meetings in March.
“Trust is earned and it’s reestablished in any relationship that you have,” York stated at the time. Nevertheless, success requires it of you. To compete for a championship, one must possess the ability to make mistakes. I’ve been around people that view every draft choice and trade they make from an individual perspective, as opposed to the fact that we’ve played in three NFC Championship Games and one Super Bowl in the previous four years. That’s a respectable run. Although it’s not where we want to end up in the end, it’s a decent run.”
Lynch’s contract was set to expire in 2024, while Shanahan’s expired in 2025, prior to their recent extensions. The most recent renewals’ specifics were not disclosed by the team.

The Kansas City Chiefs’ implications from the L’Jarius Sneed deal

Missouri’s Kansas City When the Kansas City Chiefs selected Trent McDuffie in the first round of the 2022 selection and selected three more cornerbacks before the draft was over, they started preparing for the eventual departure of cornerback L’Jarius Sneed two years ago.
It was clear then what their plan was for life without Sneed, but how well they carried it out is still up in the air. It’s possible that they will regret sending Sneed to the Tennessee Titans in exchange for a few draft picks.
For the time being, they got something back instead of losing Sneed as a free agent and having nothing when he left. The return was not as large as what the Chiefs received in exchange for Tyreek Hill two years prior.
In spite of their previous draft selections, the Chiefs can reasonably anticipate obtaining at least one productive player from the Titans, who gave them a seventh-round pick this year and a third-round pick the next year.

McDuffie now owns the cornerback position, as do the other players they drafted two years prior. McDuffie, who was chosen for the All-Pro team the previous season, is prepared to take on the duties that the Chiefs gave Sneed.
Jaylen Watson, Nazeeh Johnson, and Joshua Williams are the other three. For the Chiefs, Williams—a fourth-round selection in 2022—and Watson—a seventh-round selection in the same year—have already produced. The previous two seasons, each saw a considerable amount of playing time; Williams, in particular, appeared to be ready to start in the latter half of the previous campaign.
Johnson may be the fourth cornerback this year after missing the entire previous campaign due to an ACL tear sustained during training camp. In addition, the Chiefs have some developing cornerbacks in Nic Jones, a seventh-round pick in 2023, and Chamarri Conner, a fourth-round selection last season who saw some time as a slot cornerback in his rookie year.
The Chiefs will probably look back and regret trading Sneed since he was one of the league’s most reliable cornerbacks from down to down. As the Chiefs could have anticipated, he performed admirably despite being expected to cover the opposing team’s best wide receiver on at least 65% of the snaps, which happened a league-high seven times during the regular season, according to NFL Next Gen Stats.
He also provided them with a few big plays, the most memorable of which being the fumble he forced against Zay Flowers of the Ravens in the AFC Championship Game of the previous season.
Sneed has 40 passes defensed and 10 interceptions in 57 regular-season games. In 13 postseason games, he has one interception and seven passes defensed.
However, the Chiefs couldn’t afford to sign another contract because they were already paying Patrick Mahomes and Chris Jones at or close to the top of their positional markets.
They had anticipated this for as long as two years.
