ESPN REPORT: The Golazo on Cbs Head Coach is Being Fired Due to…
More than two weeks after Spain’s women’s national team won their first-ever Women’s World Cup victory and a year after players boycotted games in part due to his leadership, Jorge Vilda was removed as head coach of the squad.
Before taking over as head coach of Spain’s senior national team in 2015, Vilda was the coach of the country’s youth teams. This was shortly after Spain made their debut in the Women’s World Cup. Under his leadership, Spain established a reputation in the women’s game, despite their lackluster performance in big tournaments prior to the World Cup this year. Many thought Spain was not reaching their full potential because, under Vilda, they had not triumphed in a knockout match prior to 2023.
