Details on Mike Woodson Suspension.

Before Tuesday night’s game at Northwestern, Indiana University men’s basketball coach Mike Woodson banned five players: reserves Tamar Bates, Khristian Lander, Michael Durr, and starters Xavier Johnson and Parker Stewart.

The Hoosiers fell short, 59–51. They are 7-6 in Big Ten Conference play and 16-7 overall.

For what reason were the five IU basketball players suspended?
Woodson declined to say specifically why the guys were benched. The players dressed in their uniforms and took a seat on the bench, which was an unusual move.

Woodson, who was a player for the late IU coach Bob Knight, stated the following regarding the suspensions:

â–º “Here, I am creating a culture. I’m not here to play around with guys who refuse to comply with requests. They must leave if they choose not to participate. I want to bring in guys who will proudly don that uniform and who will go above and beyond both on and off the court.

“I won’t give you all of the internal justifications for their suspensions,” They received punishment for breaking the rules. If you want us to function as a team and establish guidelines that the other players must follow as a unit, then that is what you must do.”
