ESPN REPORT: The Seattle Seahawks Are Now Banned For the 2024 Season Due to….
large transaction The October acquisition of Williams by Seattle will not have been in vain. After the Giants traded a second-round pick for Williams, who also received a 2025 fifth-round pick and paid the most of the $10 million he was still owed for 2023, general manager John Schneider stated that the Seahawks were “definitely a priority” to re-sign him. That move would have been a waste if Williams had been lost to free agency.
Rather, he rejoins Dre’Mont Jones, Jarran Reed, Uchenna Nwosu, and Boye Mafe to form a potent bunch of outside linebackers and D-linemen. At inside linebacker, where Randyn Brooks left for Miami and Bobby Wagner is a free agent, Schneider and incoming coach Mike Macdonald have a lot of work ahead of them.
What’s the risk? The Seahawks reduced some of the danger by remaining true to their plan and delaying Williams’ big-money commitment until after they had a better understanding of his work ethic and locker room fit. They were pleased with both aspects of the trade, but every transaction of this magnitude carries some risk, particularly for a player of Williams’ age.
Though he appeared in 10 games for the Seahawks, recording 4.0 sacks and nine tackles for loss, Williams, who turns 30 in June, didn’t exactly turn around the team’s weak run defense. The fact that his body held up well despite playing in 18 regular-season games last season is something the Seahawks can be happy about.
