(AP) — RENTON, Wash. John Schneider’s strong preference for Kansas City over Baltimore in the Super Bowl and his strong interest in the AFC championship game last weekend were not personal.

All that was on the general manager of the Seattle Seahawks’ mind was how his team would fare in the future and how much he wanted to speak with Mike Macdonald in person.

This was quite the first encounter.

“It was a feeling, a connection, clarity, and then everything everyone said about his great reputation came to life very quickly,” Schneider said. “I don’t know how to describe it other than that.” “It was quite obvious.”

Less than 48 hours had passed since their initial interview on the East Coast when they sat side by side on a stage within the Seahawks’ corporate headquarters.

It was immediately obvious that Macdonald was the person they were looking for when they discussed their vision for the team, how they wanted to play, and their personal vision for where they felt they should take the team.
