“There’s still a lot of fighting in this club.” Luton have to improve.

claims of VAR bias in addition to independent commission panels, tribunals, point additions, appeals, and deductions. This season has been so chaotic. Luton was not the cause of any of it, but it all affected them.

The remarkable outcry from Nottingham Forest over the weekend suggested that their loss against Everton was caused by the fact that the VAR officer was a Luton supporter. Ironically, Luton would have rather had a draw.

Although it shouldn’t have a direct impact on the Hatters, it does plant a small doubt, much like when Jose Mourinho and Sir Alex Ferguson purposefully included officials into their stories prior to games. Now it will be a razor’s edge to officiate these remaining four games.

Luton will need to significantly improve on their most recent performance against Brentford if they are to have any hope of leaving the relegation zone. It could not have come at a worse moment to put on their worst show of the season.

Rob Edwards later told me that it had to do with a lack of energy and urgency. It is accurate. And it’s obvious that they are sorely lacking the pace that Chiedozie Ogbene, who is injured, provides.

It could have been a little excessive to start three players when they were recovering from injuries, which resulted in a fairly haphazard performance. But this result was the result of numerous additional factors.

The way Brentford moved the ball fast avoided being pushed by Luton and getting into a fight was a great game strategy. They also made good use of the space available to them by moving the ball rapidly, and the Hatters made significant mistakes by leaving gaps in midfield and defense.

Luton’s play had an extraordinary level of naivety, and their decision-making was tentative. With the exception of goalie Thomas Kaminski, every player had a bad day, and that means a loss in the Premier League.

The rusty Gabe Osho and Sambi Lokonga got some minutes under their belts on a day where there were very few positives, and they will benefit from it in these final games. And Luton would prefer to play Wolves this weekend over Manchester City if they were facing Forest.

When the final whistle blew, the athletes were in pain, and many people would write them off because of the outcome.

We do, however, know one thing about these players: they are tenacious. This lot still has a lot of fight left in it.
