Atlanta witnessed the conclusion of the opening day of the 2024 ACC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, seeing Wake Forest’s men’s and women’s track & field teams clinch two qualifiers and one scorer. Graduate Student Megan Cook secured fifth place in the women’s hammer final, achieving a throw of 58.58m. Meanwhile, Addison Berry finished Thursday afternoon in sixth place in the heptathlon, with three more events remaining.

During the evening session, Rocky Hansen and Paul Specht qualified for the men’s 1500m final. Hansen clocked a time of 3:44.05 to secure seventh place, while Specht followed closely behind in eleventh place with a time of 3:44.61. In the women’s 1500m prelims, Elizabeth Whaley set a personal best of 4:17.60, marking the fourth-fastest time in Wake Forest history.

The Demon Deacons will continue their pursuit in the 2024 ACC Outdoor Track & Field Championship on Friday afternoon. Berry will conclude the heptathlon with the long jump, javelin, and the 800m. Live results are available, and the meet will also be streamed on ACCNX at 12:45 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. ET.

Highlights from Thursday include Megan Cook’s fifth-place finish in the Women’s Hammer Final with a 58.58m throw, Rocky Hansen and Paul Specht qualifying in the Men’s 1500m Prelims, and Elizabeth Whaley’s personal-best performance in the Women’s 1500m Prelims.

Looking ahead to Friday’s schedule, there will be a series of running events starting from 6:00 p.m., featuring various preliminary races and concluding with the finals for the Men’s and Women’s 3,000m Steeplechase events.
