A player from Newcastle
Newcastle United now knows how long Sandro Tonali will be prohibited from betting.
It was reported on Thursday that the 23-year-old will serve a 10-month suspension as a result of an Italian Football Federation investigation into his betting activity.
Despite his suspension, Sandro Tonali will still take part in Newcastle’s training sessions and play in friendlies, giving Eddie Howe a big edge. But with Harvey Barnes out of the picture until next year, the Newcastle boss now has to deal with the bleak possibility of losing his star summer acquisition for the whole of the year
It is anticipated that Tonali would face great challenges in the future. But he has already received a ton of support from the supporters and the team. During what appeared to be his final match against Crystal Palace, he was showered with praise. It’s interesting to note that he replaced Borussia Dortmund during the Champions League game.
Unfortunately, it seems as though Tonali might make his last appearance at the Dortmund game. Despite the extremely remote possibility that he may be able to play on Saturday night against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The ban on Sandro Tonali is not yet in effect globally.
The Telegraph claims that FIFA has not yet expanded the ban to include all countries, so there’s a chance Tonali will be ready to play for Newcastle this weekend.
The report does, however, note that FIFA probably extended it in time to make sure he can’t play against Wolves at Molineux.
If Tonali is able to play on Saturday, it would be an enormous stroke of luck. Even if there is a remote chance, it does appear unlikely.
Newcastle will start Wolves with the same three players.
Eddie Howe will most likely stay with the midfield trio that began against Palace and Dortmund because Tonali is expected to miss out. Joelinton, Sean Longstaff, and Bruno Guimaraes have started the Magpies’ last two games and are expected to do so in tandem.
Actually, Newcastle doesn’t have a lot of other possibilities. Tonali appears destined for a ban, and Elliot Anderson is sidelined due to a back ailment.
Joe Willock is the only other option available to the Magpies, but having only recently coming from a protracted layoff, it is definitely too early for him to be starting.
