Aidan O’Connell, a second-year quarterback, “earned the right” to compete for the starting position on the Las Vegas Raiders, according to remarks made by coach Antonio Pierce earlier in the offseason. After splitting first-team repetitions with seasoned Gardner Minshew in the spring, O’Connell seems to hold the “slight edge” for long-term QB1 duties with training camp approaching, per ESPN. According to Jeremy Fowler, “O’Connell and Minshew…went tit for tat” in organized team activities (OTAs). The latter has “shown some moxie” and is already “changing plays at the line of scrimmage.” He inked a two-year deal in March after making 13 starts for the Indianapolis Colts in 2023. O’Connell
