Lin Yu-ting of Taiwan are competing in their first Olympics. Both boxers have already participated in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, losing in their respective weight classes’ quarterfinals and round of sixteen. However, it hasn’t prevented people from talking about them when they emerge in Paris. After her opponent pulled out of their preliminary battle on Thursday after less than a minute, Khelif, 25, will compete in the women’s 66-kg quarterfinals on Saturday. Lin, 28, will compete in the women’s 57-kg round of 16 on Friday, but others argue that they are both really “men.” Since the two were eliminated from the World Championships in New Delhi last year due to gender-based controversy, the sport has been engulfed in it.
