Forever in our hearts: Liberty University dies in a car crash.
On the first day of the Fall 2024 semester, Liberty University’s Reber-Thomas Dining Center revealed two new banners celebrating its recent honors as the 2024 New Facility of the Year and Residential Dining Facility of the Year. These accolades, announced earlier this year by the National Association of College & University Food Services (NACUFS) as part of the 2024 Loyal E. Horton Dining Awards, recognized the center with Gold and Grand Prize awards in both categories.
The New Facility of the Year award is given biennially to a facility that has opened in the past two years and stands out for its excellence, while the Residential Dining Facility of the Year award honors a facility that significantly enhances the student experience.
Before the banners were unveiled, Vice President of Auxiliary Services Louis Cambeletta highlighted the significance of these awards.
“We’re here to celebrate some very prestigious dining awards with all the students,” Cambeletta said. “To put it in perspective, winning these awards in college and university dining is like our football team winning a national championship. That’s how remarkable these awards are.”
The Reber-Thomas Dining Center, which opened at the start of the Fall 2023 semester, covers 120,000 square feet over two floors and accommodates over 2,700 people with both indoor and outdoor seating options. The facility features 27 food stations, including a dedicated allergen-free area with gluten-free baked goods. The diverse food stations offer a range of international and traditional dishes, ensuring there’s something for everyone. Additionally, the dining center hosts cooking classes and pop-up stations with chefs throughout the year, allowing students to experience new and innovative dishes.
