Although the process is still in its early stages and more engagement with fan organizations, Barnsley Council, and the Safety Advisory Group (SAG) will be necessary before submitting our application, we are certain that by working together, we can provide safe standing for the supporters.
“Completion of the recently announced lease with Barnsley Council has accelerated plans to implement safe standing at Oakwell; the Club has now submitted an application to the SGSA for rail seating (safe standing),” stated Jon Flatman, Interim Chief Executive Officer.
Although there are a few steps in the process—council support, clearance from the Safety Advisory Group, and structural surveys—we think it will improve and make the environment safer for spectators.
